Isle of Wight Vegetarians & Vegans
Isle of Wight Vegetarians &
Vegans is a very informal group that aims to enjoy life and at the same time
promote vegan and vegetarian living. We originated as the Isle of Wight
Vegetarian Society back in 1976 and some of the founder members are amongst our
number today. At present we have members spanning all age ranges and walks of
life.
We get together occasionally for
meetings, sometimes including a guest speaker or special presentation, though
we always make time for refreshments and socialising as well. We also try to
meet sometimes at various locations across the Island for other activities, such
as walks and, in the summer, barbecues or picnics.
We are happy to offer general
help and advice on adopting a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. We also have a
range of free literature available and our own very popular recipe books for
sale, "Meals Without Squeals" and its sequel 'More Meals Without
Squeals' - see here.
We can usually give talks and
show videos to clubs, societies, groups and schools. We also have stands at some
local festivals and shows to provide information, books and tasters, and we
take part in national activities - such as National Vegetarian Week, promoted
by the Vegetarian Society (UK), and Viva! campaigns.
There is no formal membership or
subscription to Isle of Wight Vegetarians & Vegans – all are welcome to
participate. The IWVV Update is available by e-mail or post by
registering with us – see here.
